Dubai: The Tokyo Olympics in 2020 could miss some of the biggest names in the NBA after a possible clash between the two major competitions.

Some of the top stars from the US, such as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, may not take part in the Tokyo Games in 2020 due to the almost clash of competition dates.

The NBA has announced that the playoffs of 2021 – which end with the top two teams in the top of the seven series – could last two months before ending on July 22.

The NBA Board of Governors has announced that the season will take place in two segments, with the first run from December 22 to March 4 before the All-Star break, while the second half of the season is planned from March 11 to May 16.

Each will face the other teams three times in the conference before heading into the opposite conference home field and away.

A play-off tournament in which the teams with the seventh to tenth highest winning percentage in each conference are presented will then be held from 18 to 21 May before the play-off match will start on 22 May and last until 22 July – just one day before the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Games.

The 2020 NBA season was severely disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic, which shut down from March to July after several players tested positive for COVID-19.
