Cairo: Lebanon’s former goalkeeper, Abdul Rahman Chebaro, who is considered the country’s greatest goalkeeper, died today of COVID-19, reports the Lebanese National News Agency NNA.
He died at the age of 77 in hospital about a month after contracting the new coronavirus.
Chebaro began his illustrious football career in 1953 and retired 30 years later.
During those years, he played for the Lebanese national team and the country’s leading clubs Al Ansar and Al Nejma. He also coached the guardian of several Lebanese groups.
In recent weeks, Lebanon has seen an increase in coronavirus cases, which has led authorities to reintroduce partial lock-in in hotbeds.
