Dubai: The organizing committee of the fourth Dubai Women’s Triathlon held a meeting with its partners from various government agencies to discuss the preparations for the event, which will take place on November 27 in the Jumeirah district.
Organized under the auspices of Shaikh Mansoor Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and organized by the Women’s Sports Committee of DSC in collaboration with the host Dubai Ladies Club, the fourth season of Dubai Women’s Triathlon is open to women of all nationalities aged 15 and over.
The coordination meeting was held at Dubai Ladies Club and representatives of DSC, Dubai Ladies Club, Dubai Police, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services were present.
During the meeting, representatives discussed the course used for the three disciplines – swimming, cycling and running – and discussed the partial closure of the roads for the cycling race, and the safety of the participants, as well as the COVID-19 protocols that followed must be.
Entries are still open and those who want to participate can do so via the official website of DSC (www.dubaisc.ae). Competitors can choose from three categories: Super Sprint (400 m swimming, 10 km cycling and 2.5 km running), Sprint (750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, 5 km running) and the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km bike, 10 km run).
The swimming competition takes place in the waters of the Arabian Gulf behind Dubai Ladies Club, while the cycling section will start from the gates of Dubai Ladies Club and take riders through the stretch of Jumeirah Road, past Etihad Museum to the intersection of Al Thanya Street from where they return to the club.
The running section of the triathlon takes participants along Dubai Canal and back to the club, where they will finish at the Triathlon Village.
The DSC does everything in its power to organize, in collaboration with its partners and various government agencies, an exceptional sporting event that will provide the participants with an unforgettable experience.
Dubai police will provide a motorcycle to ensure the bike race from start to finish, until the final rider crosses the finish line. The RTA will provide all the necessary equipment and closure plans for the event, while Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services will provide ambulances with all modern medical equipment, as well as a crew lifeguards for the swimming competition.
